“The Secret Life of Electronic Objects” – Tatiana Toutikian
Technology is at many times tragic. Before the internet, people were still being crushed by automatic doors, receiving bullying texts from friends, arguing over what channel to watch on the television, and dropping toasters into bathtubs. When these products were conceived, none were meant to be (mis)used for such functions or have been designed bearing such accidents in mind. With the onset of the internet, this gets even more complex. In this lecture, Tatiana Toutikian will examine the role and importance of critical and speculative design as a discipline that challenges the design of products today by considering ethical and moral factors.
