"Lego d'argile et ses blocs" Exhibition by Michèle Assaf Kamel
Alba will be showing work by the well-known ceramic artist Michèle Assaf Kamel. 27 beautifully sculpted art pieces of pottery will reflect the aspiration of a new world and the existence of wide unexplored territories that are so far and yet so close.
“Lego and the warmth of clay take us back to those days of childhood where everything was doable and we could still hope for a better world”.The exhibition called « Lego d’argile et ses blocs » will take place at the Salle polyvalente on February the 17th at 6 p.m. and will last until February the 24th.
Biography:
Michèle Assaf Kamel was born in 1948. Before dedicating herself to ceramic arts, she had experienced all kinds of artistic disciplines, attended art history classes and participated in several workshops in Beirut, London and Paris namely Helda Scamanga and Nuha El Radi in Beirut and Annie Fommanoir in Paris.
Ms. Kamel’s works have been exhibited in famous art galleries such as, Galerie Tanit, the Sursock Museum, the Moawad Museum and Espace SD. They have also been part of a private exhibition at the Lebanese office of tourism in Paris.
In her creations, the artist conveys her mixed feelings towards the native land, her relationship with others, her dependence and the use of language. She often reflects on the meaning of words that she uses to defy our modern society shared between denial and sense of belonging.
