Understanding, guiding, promoting, developing, enriching, making sensitive, combining universal and local urban signage to bring together different cultures while keeping a single breath, that of emotion: this is the theme of the SIGN AND SENSE conference will be held in L'Alba, Beirut, 17 and 18 April, followed by an exhibition that will continue till April 22, 2018.
About the Conference:
The ALBA-Beirut 2018 Sign & Sense Conference is conceived, realized and communicated by the students of the Master 1 of the School of Decorative Arts of Beirut - Graphic Arts and Specialization in Art Direction.
It aims to create cultural exchanges around the issue of an ideal signage. This conference is an opportunity for meetings, sharing of skills and international networking. It includes three events running in parallel:
- a symposium bringing together local and international academics (Paris, Berlin, Bombay and Beirut)
-a workshop involving students from all four destinations who will share their knowledge, experiences and emotions regarding signs, signs and signage.
-An exhibition of photographs of signs from different cultures and countries.
The ALBA-Beirut 2018 Sign & Sense conference is part of a transversal approach.
It brings together researchers and students from several countries and disciplines, highlighting the singularities, the collective and the collaborative. Its purpose is to reflect on the meaning of the signs, their universal or specific character to each culture, and their emotional impact on the public.
