Ezzat Mezher is a Lebanese painter and sculptor who has deeply contributed to his country through his monumental sculptures scattered across Lebanon, his paintings, his passion for rocks and his teaching in the most prestigious Lebanese universities.
Passionately dedicated to his art, Ezzat Mezher’s massive works have been brought to light in a book in memoriam for the pleasure of all.
After graduating from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris he returned to Lebanon where he worked until his last breath. “Le Liban de Ezzat Mezher” paints a sensitive portrait of an artist whose memory is honored by many testimonies. It also delivers an analysis of his works considered in the context of the 1970’s Lebanon to present day and addresses the wider issue of a contemporary Middle East.
In the light of the great European artistic currents that have shaped the twentieth century, Ezzat Mezher’s works became part of a legacy combining art history and the history of the Arab world revealing a man who actively supported Pan-Arabism and remained committed to his formal research.
This book, published by “Ezzat Mezher Association for Arts” in collaboration with the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts, is the result of an overview of nearly 40 years of hard work and the testimony of a boundless energy that seeks continuous improvement.
