Workshop " Fouad ElKoury "
Fouad Elkoury was born in 1952. After earning a degree in architecture in London in 1979, he turned to photography, documenting daily life in war-torn Lebanon. His photographs were published in several books, notably Beyrouth aller-retour (Éditions de l’étoile, Paris, 1984), and On War and Love(Intervalles, Paris, 2007). In 1997, he co-founded the Arab Image Foundation, an organization based in Beirut that seeks to archive and preserve photography from the region. Elkoury has held a number of solo exhibitions, including: Be…longing, Beirut Art Center, 2011; Amman, Darat al Funun, Jordan, 2011; and The Lost Empire, The Third Line, Dubai, 2014, and Galerie Tanit, Munich, 2015. He has participated in group exhibitions at Galerie Tanit, Institut du monde arabe, Sharjah Biennial, Centre Georges Pompidou, Venice Biennale, and MAXXI, among others.
